With multiple awards and accolades spanning their 12-year career, the David Crowder*Band is closing the curtains to their stage as a band with their finale "All This For a King: The Essential Collection". The album holds 14 tracks that contain all of their greatest songs that soared on radio stations, charts, and into the hearts of their fans.

The album covers album recordings of songs like, "O Praise Him", "Here is Our King", and "Open Skies". These songs are included, as well as, radio versions of the impactful worship song "How He Loves" and the upbeat "SMS (Shine)". The final three tracks leading up to the end of the album are songs that have been remixed by other artists, including, Family Force 5, Capital Kings, and The Digital Age. The remixes, in my opinion, are the perfect ending to this essential collection, because it ends the collection fun and upbeat, which also makes it easier to say goodbye to this group of solid guys.

The collection ends with a sneak peek into David Crowder’s solo career, with the song, "This I Know". The song is a country influenced, but with pop backbeats coming in on the chorus. David’s vocals take a twist as a country twang spills out, singing, “Take me up to where I was where I never wanted more/Lift me up to feel Your touch/It wouldn’t be that much.”

As much success as this band has had, their finale speaks what their heartbeat was throughout their career- that all they did, “all this [was] for a King.” That heartbeat is a legacy that will continue and never end. With every stage, though, that curtain is bound to open up for another act. As DC*B releases their essential collection, they are opening the way for David’s solo career. Though this album may feel like goodbye, it is the opening of new doors for greater things to come.

Slightly Obsessed #184: The Mark of Maturity

The infant finishes his bottle and smiles contentedly up at his mother. A trickle of milk courses down from the corner of his mouth. It’s a sweet scene because that’s what babies do. They are born with immature digestive systems and no teeth. Mother’s milk or formula are necessary for the child to survive and thrive. As they grow, their teeth begin to come in, their digestive abilities mature, and they can tolerate solid food.
