Hooray for new music!! These days it seems that albums are becoming more frequent from the artists we love, and there is a great amount of new artists bringing their talents and music into the spotlight. However, with so much new music it’s easy to lose something great in the immense and ever growing pile of content… but every once in a while, an album will jump out and grab our attention. I really think Steve Hare’s "Heart Like Your Own" deserves to be an album you give a listen to in your 2013 music list!

Most of the album's tracks have a techno/pop/dance style and undertone, making me think of another very successful new artist, Capital Kings. If you enjoyed their album, you are sure to love Steve Hare’s creation! Not all of the songs hold true to this form though, songs like “Hold nothing back” have a pop-rock sound bearing much more similarity to music by bands like The Afters.

The diversity of this album is certainly one of the best features of Steve’s music! It reminds me of another Christian music artist whose name has become practically synonymous with diversity, Toby Mac.

The head-bobbing/foot-tapping beats mixed with tasteful uses of auto-tune add a nice flavor to this album, and compliment this celebration of life. The words are certainly written from the heart of someone who wants to point to Christ in his music and bring a message that is hopeful, encouraging, and inspiring.

Steve’s experience and talent for making music is clear and shows in this album, even though this is his debut album, it is quite apparent he is no stranger to musical production. I was going to point out a few select tracks I’d be sure to get, but that would be a nearly impossible task with this album, every song tells a great story and will bring a smile to the listener’s face even on a cloudy day.

Steve even encourages us to “Reach A Heart”, and I hope that the catchy melodies and heartfelt, meaningful lyrics of this album will reach many!

Slightly Obsessed #192: Heaven Is Calling: Consider Jesus

Some days we can barely hear it. Other days it drives us to our knees. But it’s always there; that persistent tug in our souls. Whether we trudge through our days or chase the stars of fame and fortune, we can’t drown out the cry that sounds silently in the pit of our being, jarring us with its urgency and moving us with its tears.
