Audio Adrenaline "Kings & Queens"
by Andrew Funderburk (cmaddict) on 2013-03-25 14:58:17

In 2007, in Hawaii, farewells were spoken and sung….or so we thought. Now, six years later, the adrenaline is back. For all the hesitancy that may have been expressed with new front man Kevin Max, and the changing of practically the entire lineup, save only Will McGinnis, all can be laid to rest. The same heart that fueled Audio Adrenaline through the years is poured into their new record, Kings and Queens, with new vigor and passion. Though different in sound and lineup, the listener is pulled and taken on the road where the heart of this music leads.

With every track, the listener can’t help but know that this is a trumpeting call to action and movement. The lyrics engage the heart to be unashamed and asks the question, “Why wouldn’t I let you see the light?” (Climb the Mountain) when “There are 7 billion people but it’s a lonely world”. The first single, and the namesake of the album, points us to some of those 7 billion people, “If not us who will be like Jesus to the least of these?”

“Raise the banner high march with I and I/Lift your voices up loud and high/Strength and unity, faith and victory/Let the battle rage on we cry” –Raise the Banner

“I climb the mountain and I’ll hold the light until/We are a city on a hill, city on a hill/We’ll walk together and we won’t let go” –Climb the Mountain

“When we love, when we love the least of these/Then they will be brave and free/Shout your name in victory” –Kings and Queens

This call to movement is fully revealed as being funneled by the Seeker of our lives and the One Whose Fire Never Sleeps- Jesus Christ.

“Lord, we know our day is comin’/When we look into Your eyes and see a fire that never sleeps…Your fire never sleeps” –Fire Never Sleeps

“This is God, Seeker of the lost/And forever father to the fatherless/He’s the Hope of the world, every boy every girl” -Seeker

Kings and Queens doesn’t slow its pace until the project ends on track 10…and then it’s time for another round. With possibly the greatest comeback project in Christian music today, Audio A has played it out well. The combination of strong lyrical content, vocals, music, and, more so, the absolute, strong passion all streams perfectly together. Kings and Queens is an empowerment for us to rise to the position that Jesus Christ has made for us and to live in that position of our identity in Him. It is also an empowerment to go and let the light of love shine to those who are looking for Light of Love. So let us raise the banner so that “boys become kings” and “girls will be queens.”

Slightly Obsessed #192: Heaven Is Calling: Consider Jesus

Some days we can barely hear it. Other days it drives us to our knees. But it’s always there; that persistent tug in our souls. Whether we trudge through our days or chase the stars of fame and fortune, we can’t drown out the cry that sounds silently in the pit of our being, jarring us with its urgency and moving us with its tears.
