Tricia Brock has always felt like God was calling her to lead worship. After twelve years and six albums, the Superchick lead singer has decided to do just that. With her first solo album "The Road", Tricia aims to encourage, inspire, and give hope to as many as she can.

Tricia's husband, Nick Baumhardt, who worked with Stellar Kart, FM Static, and Thousand Foot Krutch, produced the album. "The Road" features new songs written by Tricia and some new versions of other known songs like "Jesus, I Am Resting" and "Always".

The album opens with the upbeat "Breath of God", a song about laying down your treasures and recognizing that only God can truly satisfy - "Breath of God, You give us life/ Only You can satisfy".

"Lean" is about trusting in God to lead us when times are uncertain and darkest - "This road to Holiness is paved with burdens/ My path is never straight/ I'm so uncertain". Currently playing over the airways is "You Are My Shepard" the first single from the album.

The two most impressive tracks come back-to-back on this album, “The Altar” followed by “Always”. Lead by a beautiful piano track, "The Altar" suits Tricia's voice perfectly. This is best showcased when she sings "Be still and know that He is God." The powerful standout track on the album is a new version of the popular "Always". This is the song to put on repeat - "Oh my God/ He will not delay/ My refuge and strength/ Always", and the beautifully arranged section - "I lift my eyes up/ My help comes from the Lord".

Track eight "Impossible" is a declaration of God's power in our lives to conquer anything - "Oh my God is strong/ Nothing is impossible/ He rose again and conquered the grave".

The message is encouraging and the total focus of the album. It's quite obvious from this album and her work with Superchick that Tricia has a heart to fight for the lost and to show them to a place of hope and peace in God. "The Road" is a great work of inspiration coming from a kind heart. "If I have one purpose to fulfill during my time on this earth, it's to bring someone closer to God through the love and compassion that He's given me..." says Tricia. "The Road" is an excellent release and great worship album for all Superchick fans.

Slightly Obsessed #186: When the Path Ahead Is Fearsome

The room was dark and shadowed, the only sound within its walls the rhythmic whoosh of the ventilator beside my son’s bed. I sat on an uncomfortable chair jammed into one corner of the room. In the faint light that fell from the window across the pages of the Bible I held, I tried to corral my stampeding fears long enough to find some comfort from God’s Word. Outside the door of his room, a cacophony of voices from the nurses’ station jarred our shattered nerves.
