Josh Wilson has made a name for himself in the past few years as a standout contemporary Christian pop artist. For his fourth album, “That Was Then, This is Now”, Wilson sticks close to his musical formula but offers some great highlights that stands him out from other artists in the genre.

“That Was Then, This is Now” is a great title for this record because through the course of the record the message is simple, letting go of the past and moving forward with God's grace. Songs like the title track, “No More” and “Blown Away” offer great examples of our redemption through grace.

One highlight comes from the drum driven track “House Divided” that focuses on the battle we have as believers to battle temptation. There is also the very personal “Don’t let Go”, a very powerful balled and lyrical highlight on the album. Wilson confesses having doubts and begs the Lord to not turn his back on him.

Right when each song starts to blend in together a little bit, Wilson throws in some stand out tracks such as “Ode to Joy” and “House Divided” that makes the album stay fresh from start to finish.

"That Was Then, This Is Now" is an ambitious, fun pop record that stretches John Wilson musically and lyrically. Whether you’re looking for inspiring and encouraging lyrical content or just a fun pop record, you’re going to want to pick up Wilson's latest!

Slightly Obsessed #216: Daddy Has You

As I sat at the red light, a pick-up pulled up beside me in the other lane. The window was rolled down, and the driver rested his arm lazily on the door ledge. A chihuahua fur baby sat perched in the crook of the driver’s arm, yapping with all its tiny might at the pickup in front of me.
