Mat Kearney "Just Kids" by Jon Ownbey (cmaddict.com) on 2015-03-06 11:15:16
Mat Kearney debuts his 5th album and demonstrates his artistic strength. The backbone of this album is his distinct vocal style accompanied by a wide variety of musical influences, with just the right mix of rap, hip hop, pop, and rock the album has a great feel. This is the perfect album to play on a sunny day in your car with the top down.
Lyrically this album feels like an autobiography and draws deeply from the artists personal experience. Keeping that in mind the lyrics are spiritually shallow and I never hear any expression of Jesus or His impact. Christian music can either be clean entertainment or a ministry and this album is clean entertainment.
Overall, JUST KIDS is a feel good album that is emotionally upbeat and flows well. Artistically this is a great album, but I was disappointed in its spiritual neutrality. If you're just looking for some clean music with some catchy hooks then you will not be disappointed.

ARTICLE Slightly Obsessed #184: The Mark of Maturity
The infant finishes his bottle and smiles contentedly up at his mother. A trickle of milk courses down from the corner of his mouth. It’s a sweet scene because that’s what babies do. They are born with immature digestive systems and no teeth. Mother’s milk or formula are necessary for the child to survive and thrive. As they grow, their teeth begin to come in, their digestive abilities mature, and they can tolerate solid food.
