This is my first real exposure to Group 1 Crew’s music, other than occasionally hearing it on Christian radio. Group 1 Crew is a 5 time Dove Award Winning Hip-Hop/Pop sensation. #Faster is an EP that features guest vocal appearances by Moriah Peters, Jonathan Thulin, and Rachel Lampa.

“The Wonder Years” features Moriah Peters and reminds me of a song you could hear on one of those high school movies with a dance scene in it. It has a beat that just makes you want to dance.

“A Little Closer” is catchy and talks about desiring to grow closer to God. That everyday is a chance to grow closer to God, that no matter the mistakes we make we can grow closer to God. The song seems to compare life to a roller coaster with twists, turns and ups and downs. The beginning opens with soft drum beats. It has a nice section at the end with key’s and guitar. This song is the current radio single for this album and Group 1 Crew’s Manwell Reyes says he hopes the song “will encourage listener’s caught up in perfectionism or a legalistic faith.”

“Heaven” features Jonathan Thulin and starts with hard drum beats and sounds like techno music with electronic sounds. My personal favorite song is “Everyday is a Miracle” which features Rachel Lampa. I really like the beat, it’s catchy and you can’t help but air drum or dance around. “Everyday is a miracle, I’m gonna breath in deep, every moment I live, leave a mark they will never forget.” This song leaves me wondering, what kind of a legacy am I leaving behind?

“Psalm 23” is the last track on this song and is an interesting take on this very popular and familiar Psalm with guitar driven cords and drum beats in the background.

Overall, this album was surprising with it being my first real exposure to Group 1 Crew. I was truly expecting something totally different. I was pleasantly surprised with this album… the only thing is it leaves you hanging with, in my opinion, no real closure to the album.
