Salah and Shekinah Band "Shine Bright (EP)" by Andrew Funderburk (cmaddict.com) on 2014-02-13 15:01:17
Comprised of two sisters, a brother, and a really good friend, Salah and Shekinah Band is shining out with their debut EP, “Shine Bright.” Though their name may be new to many, they hold a solid entrance into the world of music after winning a battle of the bands contest, as well as being the opening act and being guests for artists, such as, Jeremy Camp, Sidewalk Prophets, For King and Country, Newsong, and many more.
The group’s sound is very bright and clear. This music excludes a lot of the other musical distractions that other music has, which enables the listener to focus on the words much more. The lyrics are also encouraging, but at a couple of lyrical points, it can push being slightly cheesy (such as La Da Da Da, which repeats the title of the song more than enough during the song).
“You say you have today but tomorrow today will be history/Let’s be the change/So get up, go out the door and be the change/Let His love shine more than you ever have”
“And I sail towards the mountain/Where you’re waiting by the fountain/We’ll sail hand in hand/In His plan/And we’ll stick together/We will stand the strongest weather side by side/So won’t you sail by me” –Sail By Me
As far as the blending of the vocals and music, it doesn’t feel completely cohesive and mature in that aspect quite yet. Despite that though, the band has gained much ground even before releasing their debut. And as time progresses, maturity will come with that causing their lights to shine brighter still.

Some days we can barely hear it. Other days it drives us to our knees. But it’s always there; that persistent tug in our souls. Whether we trudge through our days or chase the stars of fame and fortune, we can’t drown out the cry that sounds silently in the pit of our being, jarring us with its urgency and moving us with its tears.
