DISCIPLE’S ALBUM "ATTACK" PROCLAIMS JESUS AND STORMS RETAIL by Hoganson Media on 2014-10-02 12:14:08
Rock band Disciple released independently its first new album in nearly two years, Attack, to worldwide markets last week through The Fuel Music. The 5-star acclaimed album becomes an immediate bestseller this week, marching all the way to No. 2 on the SoundScan Christian chart, just behind LeCrae, and to No. 44 on the Billboard Top 200. The album continues to be available at iTunes, Amazon.com, Best Buy, Family Christian, Parable Stores, LifeWay and everywhere great music is sold.
Partly driving the success of Attack is the lead single, “Radical,” which jumped from No. 20 last week to No. 3 this week on the Christian Rock chart. “Radical” is also the first video from the new album, which can be seen on Disciple’s YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/user/disciplerocks.
“I wanted to talk about Jesus loudly and without shame,” says front man, founding member and band leader Kevin Young. “That’s why ‘Radical’ is the first track and our first single and video. It sets the tone for what we want people to hear. We talk about Jesus openly at every show. We do an altar call. That is who we are and that is what Disciple is called to do, and we hope that people hear the new music and say ‘Yeah, now THAT’S Disciple!’”
Attack features Young with four new Disciple members, but established musicians in their own right: Josiah Prince from Philmont and Andrew Stanton from I Am Empire on guitars, Jason Wilkes from High Flight Society on bass and vocals, and Joey West from After Edmund on drums. While each of the band members except for Young are new, Disciple brought back into the mix Travis Wyrick (P.O.D., Pillar, TobyMac), who produced the first seven Disciple records. A year in the making, and with the added freedom of now being independent for the first time since 2003, Disciple is receiving high marks for the new album.
In addition to NewReleaseTuesday.com, CCM, About.com and many other reviews, JesusFreakHideout proclaims “Attack should be in contention for best rock album of 2014,” as HollywoodJesus affirms that “the band is even more direct about its faith, its more melodic in its delivery, and yet, it’s still the awesome all-out, rock your face-off, kind of music it has always been.” IndieVisionMusic agrees, saying “this is an album that deserves to be internalized into your very soul.” Soul-Audio says Disciple delivers “an album that is has something for fans both old and new,” while Burning Point Online adds that Disciple is “one of the greatest live bands you’ll ever see.”
And fans will have a chance to catch Disciple playing the new music from Attack on tour, along with a bevy of No. 1 hits and fan favorites, as they launch a two-week club tour beginning at Mojoes in Chicago (Joliet, IL) today. The band then travels into significant markets across the country before wrapping up Oct. 23 in Battle Creek, MI. Special guests on the tour are Project 86 and A Life Set Apart.
Immediately following the club tour, Disciple joins the massive, No. 1 Pollstar-ranked Winter Jam tour. NewSong's blockbuster Winter Jam Tour Spectacular kicks-off Nov. 6 at Albuquerque, New Mexico's Santa Ana Star Center, and hits Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena, Long Beach Arena (Long Beach, CA), Boise’s Taco Bell Arena and Tacoma Dome (Tacoma, WA), among others, before concluding November 16 at Portland’s Moda Center.

The Martha in us makes everything so hard, when the Lord is calling us to be Mary, running toward the sound of His voice; sitting in stillness as His feet; not wasting a moment of our time with Him in distracted busyness. Simply clinging to His every word.
