Katie Woodward Begins Faithlauncher Campaign For Inspiring Album To Help Battle Aspergers by Team Addict on 2013-07-22 15:30:14
New artist Katie Woodward is looking for help with her new album "Songs from the Heart and Beyond". She's got 7 days left and needs less than $500 to reach her goal. See her video and inspiring story below and how she's used music to battle Aspergers.
"I was first inspired to start writing music around 13 years ago. My Mimi (my grandmother) encouraged my passion for music, and she had huge dreams for me -- she believed I could one day make music to reach others, long before I was ever willing to try singing a note. It's taken me years to gain the confidence to start sharing my music with others, much less to sing my music, but when I did gain some of that confidence, doors started opening; people wanted to hear more of my music.
My main goal with writing music has been three-fold: first, music is the best way I can express myself -- I have Asperger's Syndrome, and expressing my emotions has always been difficult, but music allows me the perfect (and most accurate) outlet to express every emotion. Second (and most importantly), I aim to glorify God with every piece of music I write, record, or perform -- He gave me the gift, and I'll always use it for His glory. Third, I want to reach people, inspire them, encourage them, give them hope -- music is a powerful vessel, and I want to use it for good.
Last year, I was approached out-of-the-blue from an independent record label interested in distributing my music online. I rushed to put together an album (Renewed Passion) for them to release. Now I'm ready to release my second album, and I want to release it digitally through the label, but also I need to get physical CDs produced for distribution. That's where this campaign comes in. Production costs are high, and I'm on a severely limited budget. But the good news is that I only need $500 to have enough to get the CDs made!
I'm sure the question at the front of your mind is: what's the album about? Good question!
I write so much music (usually several songs a month), so it wasn't easy narrowing down the song selection for this album! The album consists primarily of what I call "dual-purpose" songs -- this means that they can be interpreted as being about either God or about a person. The reason I went with this concept (aside from the fact that a good friend of mine suggested it) is because I feel that these songs can reach a wider variety of people -- not only that, but when someone who isn't necessarily Christian hears the music, there's a subtle Christian undertone that the Lord could use to spark something in their hearts!
Let's make this album happen! Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated, whether it's monetary or prayer!"
